MARTIX: A 42 A-1S / A 42 B-1S (the original US Impulse matrix stamped, plus UK A-1S/B-1S)
MOTHERS/STAMPERS: 1/G and 1/G (one of the earliest copies - in the batch of the first 300 pressed)
THE RECORD IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL FRONT LAMINATED FLIPBACK SLEEVE "Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patents pending"
COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL 'PATENTS APPLIED FOR', HMV COMPANY, TRACING PAPER LINED ADVERTISING INNER SLEEVE

Tracks 1 & 3 were recorded live at the Village Vanguard in November 1961, while tracks 2 & 4 were recorded at Van Gelder Studio on September 18, 1962 and April 29, 1963.
The album was originally released in 1963 on the Impulse! label in the US and on HMV in the UK.
The recording features the classic quartet of John Coltrane: McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison, and Elvin Jones; joined by Eric Dolphy and Reggie Workman on the live tracks.
Dolphy plays a memorable solo on the long modal workout "India", but lays out on all but the coda of "Impressions".
Workman is at hand only on "India", to join Garrison in approximating the sound of an African drum choir
The music reflects Coltrane's evolving emotional and musical range, where he explores jazz modality, the music of India and the blues

John Coltrane - Soprano sax, tenor sax
Eric Dolphy - Bass clarinet, alto sax
McCoy Tyner - Piano
Jimmy Garrison - Bass
Reggie Workman - Bass
Elvin Jones - Drums
Roy Haynes - Drums

Side One:
India (13:52)
Up 'Gainst The Wall (3:12)
Side Two:
Impressions (14:40)
After The Rain (4:07)

LABELS: NEAR MINT
Clean, bright and unmarked labels with only a couple of spindle traces per side.
VINYL Visual: EXCELLENT++
Both surfaces retain their original deep glossy sheen and appear practically unmarked in normal light (one or two extremely light and superficial marks only) with just wispy hairlines visible under bright light - none of these have any audio impact whatsoever
VINYL Audio: NEAR MINT/EXCELLENT++
Sensational copy which plays beautifully throughout with no major audio issues of note.
Played just once or twice on top quality equipment the sound performance is practically flawless - crystal clear, clean, fresh and incredibly immediate with just the lightest touch of surface on the quiet "After The Rain" - nothing intrusive
SLEEVE: EXCELLENT++
The flipback cover is also in superb condition with a deep glossy sheen to the laminated front and a remarkably clean back.
The edges and spine are practically unworn and all spine text is clear and bold.
There is one tiny pin-point 'nick' on the top edge (impossibly minor) otherwise, a beautifully preserved example
INNER SLEEVE: EXCELLENT++
The original HMV inner sleeve is clean and fresh with no seam splits

ALL RECORDS ARE PACKAGED WITH THE VINYL OUTSIDE OF THE SLEEVE TO PREVENT ANY 'KNIFING' DURING TRANSIT
A PROTECTIVE POLY SLEEVE, NEW INNER SLEEVE WITH ANTI-STATIC LINER, QUALITY BOX (NOT ENVELOPE) MAILER AND AMPLE STIFFENERS ARE ALWAYS USED TO ENSURE THAT YOUR RECORD ARRIVES SAFELY
