Description
Up for auction is a nice copy of the John Coltrane album "Live At The Village Vanguard" originally released on Impulse Records (A-10) in 1962. This copy is the rare Mono pressing with RVG stamped in the run-out deadwax. Laminated gatefold cover. Orange and black Impulse labels.
Cover is in nice condition, the lamination still shiny and attractive with only a minor amount of rubbing. Factory punch hole in lower left corner (see photo). Lamination on back cover, top left corner has a tear and lifting, and the left opening edge shows some lifting. Nick on bottom edge. Corners are nice, though show some rubbing loss. Spine is nice, titles bold, not faded, not creased from repeated opening. Seams are strong, no splits, no rubbing losses. Inside gatefold is generally clean, though it does have moisture staining along bottom edge (see photos). Note: there is a slight musty-ness to the interior gatefold, not serious. Still, an attractive cover that presents nicely. Grade the cover VG+ (Very Good Plus).
Vinyl is in very nice condition, retaining its original shiny luster. Only some very small, light hairlines probably from taking the vinyl in and out of paper inner sleeve. Labels are clean, no marks around spindle holes, indicating little previous play or handling. Looks like a very well-preserved record, well taken care of. Not played much at all. Grade the vinyl EX (Excellent). Nice mono sound quality, superior to the much more common stereo version.
