Description
This is the classic and highly desirable MONO version of the BALLADS LP by the JOHN COLTRANE QUARTET with McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison and Elvin Jones. It was released by IMPULSE! Records in 1963. This is a gatefold jacket album with a front cover that is in very nice condition as it the near mint 2 page spread with photos and a forward by Gene Lees that is included on the inside of the gatefold jacket (see photos). The back cover of the jacket has some loosened plastic on edge where the record is inserted and also a small area (2" x 1" spot) on bottom (where a resale label was removed). There are no seam splits and jacket overall is in very nice VG to VG+ condition. The vinyl also in VG to VG+ condition shows past use and has several light scratches on each side and a very small spot on second track of side B that does not affect play. Record plays through with wonderful sound and very minimal surface noise.
