This is a rare copy of John Denver's 'John Denver Sings' LP from a collection near St. Peter, Minnesota, the hometown of Annie Martell, who is the subject of 'Annie's Song'. As you can see from the photos, the jacket is worn and is split on the top and bottom. The spine is also worn through from the record. The vinyl is scuffed and scratched, but both sides play without skips. While surface noise and pops are present, they do not overpower the music.
Denver pressed 250 copies of this record in 1966 to give as gifts to friends and family. The songs are wonderful, and they include the first recording of 'Babe, I Hate To Go (Leaving On A Jet Plane)', as well as several folk songs and four Beatles covers. He is backed by Bob Hefferan and Paul Prestopino from the Chad Mitchell Trio.
The back of the jacket has a personal handwritten inscription: Carl, Thank you for your help and your friendship. And for the words you've written that I've yet to hear. Your friendship, John
This item is exceptionally difficult to find. It has never sold on Discogs and is rarely offered up for purchase anywhere. Postal insurance is required and has been factored into the sale price.
