JOHN FAHEY, THE TRANSFIGURATION OF BLIND JOE DEATH, UK TRANSATLANTIC LP, US FOLK

John Fahey – The Transfiguration Of Blind Joe Death (12” LP)
John Aloysius Fahey (February 28, 1939 - February 22, 2001) was an American fingerstyle guitarist and composer who played the steel-string acoustic guitar as a solo instrument. His style has been enormously influential and has been described as the foundation of the genre of American primitive guitar, a term borrowed from painting and referring mainly to the self-taught nature of the music and its minimalist style. Fahey borrowed from the folk and blues traditions in American roots music, having compiled many forgotten early recordings in these genres.
Side One: Beautiful Linda Getchell; Orinda-Moraga; I Am The Resurrection; On The Sunny Side Of The Ocean; Tell Her To Come Back Home; My Station Will Be Changed After While; 101 Is A Hard Road To Travel.

Side Two: How Green Was My Valley; Bicycle Built For Two; The Death Of The Clayton Peacock Written-By – Fahey*; Brenda's Blues; Old Southern Medley; Come Back Baby; Poor Boy; Saint Patrick's Hymn.
The album is on Transatlantic Records, TRA 173. Matrix side one: TRA 173 A-1E (stamped). Matrix side two: TRA 173 B1 (stamped).
Originally released in the USA in 1965, this is a 1973 reissue. UK pressing. Mono.

Condition: (as Record Collector’s grading system)
Vinyl side 1: excellent (has the very odd very light superficial mark that does not affect the audio in any way,
plays great with no jumps, sticks or clicks and minimal crackle, label has wrinkled in the middle).
Vinyl side 2: excellent (has the very odd very light superficial mark that does not affect the audio in any way,
plays great with no jumps, sticks or clicks and minimal crackle).
Cover (fully laminated): very good (small bit of laminate lift on top and bottom of spine edge, the off small laminate crease).
I have tried to give my honest opinion as to the condition. I will give a
complete refund to the buyer if they are not happy on return of the record.

Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM:
MINT: I very rarely use the mint grade. Only records that are still sealed or records that even under the strongest of lights are completely unmarked. Also covers that are unmarked/uncreased in any way and still look brand new.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.  1706 (GS 9.9 (1706))
