ITEM INFORMATION:

This is Lang-Worth # 595 (noted on label as old # 605) and #596 (noted on label as old # 606), a two-sided 16" radio broadcast transcription disc, never commercially issued to the public.

According to published jazz - big band / swing discographies, these were recorded in the Summer of 1941, just 6 months before Pearl Harbor and America's entry into WWII. The personnel is: JOHN KIRBY - string bass; CHARLIE SHAVERS - trumpet; BUSTER BAILEY - clarinet; RUSSELL PROCOPE - alto sax; the great BILLY KYLE - piano & arranger; O'NEIL SPENCER or COZY COLE - drums; MAXINE SULLIVAN - vocals; and LOU SINGER - arranger.
