John Lennon

Bag One

Laurens A. Daane, n.v. - Amsterdam Holland - 1970

Numbered: 000567

15 pages in portfolio

Portfolio: 50 x 37 cm

The "Bag One" portfolio, drawn by John Lennon himself, was originally a wedding present from John Lennon to Yoko Ono. Created it in 1969 after his wedding to Yoko Ono. The pictures from the series were exhibited for the first time in 1970 in the London Arts Gallery. After the second day, the exhibition was closed early by Scotland Yard and the 8 erotic lithographs were confiscated and considered too "offensive and obscene". For this reason, John Lennon then decided to have the series reproduced in high quality in the much more liberal Netherlands.
