Description
John Lennon - 'Unfinished Music No.2 - Life With The Lions'. ZAPPLE 01
John Lennon 1968 UK 1st FACTORY SAMPLE DEMO pressing of the 'Unfinished Music No.2 - Life With The Lions' album. Released on the 9th May 1969, and offered here with 1G/1G matrix, FULLY COMPLETE and in superb EXCELLENT+/EXCELLENT+ condition.
'Unfinished Music No.2 - Life With The Lions' is an experimental album recorded by John Lennon and Yoko Ono in 1968/1969. It was the first record of only two to be released on the rare Zapple Records label which was an offshoot of Apple Records intended to be a home of experimental and spoken word recordings which never fully took off. This album completely failed to chart and only 5000 UK copies were ever sold. An incredibly hard and rare UK release to obtain.
These initial early factory sample pressings would have usually been given out to reviewers, radio stations or used as quality control within the pressing plant.
Released on the Zapple Records label with dark apple background both labels state the 'Sold in UK....' text. The side one label features a 'KJT' tax code embossed which is very unusual for an album of this date - May 1969. The vinyl is housed within the original 'Zapple 01' inner sleeve which features track listings and various sleeve notes/credits. The cover is fully laminated and produced by Garrod & Lofthouse Limited. An incredibly rare demo album from John in stunning condition which was among the very first few to be produced as denoted by the matrix below.
The Matrix numbers are:
Side 1. ZAPPLE 01 A-1 1 G
Side 2. ZAPPLE 01 B-1 1 G
The vinyl is in EXCELLENT+ condition. Both sides of the vinyl have been play tested and sound superb. This is in simply remarkable condition.
Both labels are in MINT- condition. STUNNING.
The sleeve is in EXCELLENT+ condition.
The inner sleeve is in EXCELLENT+ condition. I will also include an additional inner sleeve to protect the original.
