Description
For auction is a May 1968 (Made in Merrie England) stereo vinyl LP of John Lennon & Yoko Ono's – Unfinished Music No.1 Two Virgins, Apple Records in Association with Tetragrammaton Records, T-5001.
John and Yoko’s first record was highly controversial for both the music and the album cover. The nude artwork was shocking at the time of release and in the USA the record was issued with a brown paper bag covering the nude photographs.
I bought this album in the early 1970's and have kept it either framed on a wall or in a drawer since.
The vinyl is in excellent condition, with very few minor marks visible under bright lighting. The record plays great, with very slight noise.
The labels are in clean and clear condition with only a little bubbling of the paper around the spindle hole which is how it came from the factory.
The original white inner sleeve is in very good condition, with no splits, discoloration and little wear.
The cover is in very nice condition. The white colored cover is extremely vulnerable to discoloration, but I don't see any. There is no ring impression, no edge wear, no spine wear, and little corner wear. There are two small creases on the upper part and a more prominent one on the lower left corner of the front cover. There is a little rubbing discoloration on the front cover to the left of John's knees. There is a little light staining on the back cover at the left and upper left. Lastly, there is a small puncture at the lower right corner on the front. Still, it is in very nice overall condition.
The brown paper cover has brown staining on the front that is mostly hidden due to the fact that the paper is brown. There is some corner and edge wear. The sleeve is separated on the top and bottom, but it looks as though it was made that way. There are no tear marks and the top and bottom are separated at exactly the same point, seven inches. (That's new info to me).
The photograph...I don't know! I don't remember where I got it in my travels. It is very old...from the early 70's or original? It too has some staining on it. It is 5 inches by 3 and a half inches. A very nice extra item!
