Description
For many collectors, the search is now over for this one. This is the John Lennon/Yoko Ono Wedding Album LP set. Apple Records release #SMAX-3361. This offering is another piece from the liquidation of a 1700 album collection. All albums in this collection were cared for meticulously and maintained in an ideal environment. This set, along with all LPs in this collection have also been stored in clear plastic dust covers and protected from fading as the result of light damage.
This offering includes all inserts originally released on October 20, 1969. The vinyl is in terrific condition. I would classify it NM but there are several lightly visible smudges which appear to possibly be finger prints. There are no visible lines, scratches, or waves. The vinyl is black and very shiny. The center labels are NM as they appear as though they have never been touched or placed over a spindle. The plain white paper sleeve is without tears or markings. There is a bit of a wrinkle in the top right corner of the paper sleeve. The gatefold cover is NM as it appears to be untouched. Edges are crisp and without any rubbing noted. Corners are crisp and fully intact.
The white box is without tears, markings, or bends. There are 2 small bubbled marks where it appears there is air under the outer layer. These areas are only noticible from an angle and are not creased at all.The four corners are all crisp and without any rub marks. The Apple labels on the edges of the box are unblemished. Note in the close-up photo a bit of light blue rub off to the far bottom of the box cover. This appears to have come from a neighboring album at some point in this items life before reaching it's most recent owner.
Inserts included are:
Photo Strip, Post Card, Poster of Wedding Photos, Poster of Lithographs, "Bagism" sack, "The Press" book, Photo of a Piece of the Wedding Cake, and the adhered copy of the Marriage License inside the box cover. All of these items are in MINT condition as they appear as though they have never been touched. The posters have no bends, tears, and no tape or push pin marks.
This is the near perfect specimen of this release and is a very desirable collectable. One would be hard pressed to find another one in this great condition. I do attempt to utilize a very conservative interpretation of the grading descriptions in Goldmine.
