Another from my personal collection! Probably one of the hardest John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers album to ever find! Rare and very scarce to find, John Mayalls Debut album over 45 years old! This is the original 1st UK pressing  ((mono)) recording! The audio is absolutely perfect throughout on my systems, carefully play tested prior to listing at very loud volume on a top system using a dedicated mono cartridge, it is my opinion that you will be hard pushed to find a better sounding copy than this one! The original laminated front cover is in superbe condition also, super glossy appearence!

John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers are a pioneering English blues band, led by singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist John Mayall, OBE.

Mayall used the band name between 1963 and 1967, but then dropped it for some fifteen years. However, in 1982 a 'Return of the Bluesbreakers' was announced and the name has been kept since then. The name has become generic without a clear distinction which recordings are to be credited just to the leader or to leader and his band. The Bluesbreakers have included luminaries such as:...

  • Eric Clapton (April–August 1965, November 1965–July 1966) and Jack Bruce, who both left to form Cream,
  • Peter Green, who had replaced Clapton, played until August 1967, when he departed with Mick Fleetwood and then also enticed Bluesbreaker John McVie a few weeks later to form Fleetwood Mac,
  • Mick Taylor (August 1967–July 1969) who later joined The Rolling Stones, and reunion tours in 1982–83 and 2004,
  • Harvey Mandel, Walter Trout, Larry Taylor (later in Canned Heat),
  • Don "Sugarcane" Harris, Randy Resnick, Aynsley Dunbar, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Andy Fraser (Free), Chris Mercer, Henry Lowther, Johnny Almond and Jon Mark (later of Mark-Almond).

The Bluesbreakers were formed in January 1963 and became an ever-evolving lineup of more than 100 different combinations of musicians performing under that name.

Eric Clapton joined in 1965 just a few months after the release of their first album. Clapton brought the blues influences to the forefront of the group, as he had left The Yardbirds in order to play the blues!

The group lost their record contract with Decca that year, which also saw the release of a single called "I'm Your Witchdoctor" (produced by Jimmy Page), followed by a return to Decca in 1966. The album Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton (also known as The Beano Album because Clapton is shown on the cover photo reading a copy of the comic) was released later that year; it reached the Top Ten in the UK!.

Clapton and Jack Bruce left the group that year to form Cream. Clapton was replaced by Peter Green for A Hard Road, after which he left to form Fleetwood Mac. Finally, in 1969, the third Bluesbreaker-guitarist departed when Mick Taylor joined the Rolling Stones!!.

By the time the 1960s were over, the Bluesbreakers had finally achieved some success in the United States!.

With some interruptions, the Bluesbreakers have continued to tour and release albums (over 50 to date), though they never achieved the critical or popular acclaim of their earlier material. In 2003, Eric Clapton, Mick Taylor and Chris Barber reunited with the band for John Mayall's 70th Birthday Concert in Liverpool — the concert was later released on CD and DVD. In 2004, their line up included Buddy Whittington, Joe Yuele, Hank Van Sickle and Tom Canning, and the band toured the UK with Mick Taylor as a guest musician!!.

In November 2008 Mayall announced on his website he was disbanding the Bluesbreakers to cut back on his heavy workload and give himself freedom to work with other musicians. A 2009 tour with Rocky Athos (formerly of Black Oak Arkansas) is currently advertised!!.

Former band member, Johnny Almond died on 18 November 2009 from cancer, aged 63!

The Vinyl

This is the original and heavier and thicker\deeper grooved type of vinyl only found on these early UNBOXED DECCA LABELD pressings!!! Later press were much more flimsier and less robust!!.

On visual inspection the vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and still retains its original sheen from new and looks awesome i can I can barely see a blemish!!!. Any marks that could possibly be seen under a strong light would be sleeve removal marks only (no) needle/ audio sounding marks at all!

The Audio Quality

I have played this through track for track AT VERY LOUD VOLUME ON A TOP SYSTEM, IMPORTANTLY, USING A DEDICATED MONO CARTRIDGE.  The audio is awesome cristal clear and vibrant through out and plays like new!! Please note! VERY IMPORTANT,,, With (no) signs of distortion or any signs of grooveware! This plays with (no)  clicks or pops and i never heard any major in fact no background crackle at all during the audio. So rare for a  vinyl that is over 46 years old!!

This would benefit from a constant clean before each play as this has been stored in a case for more than 25 years and build up of dirt and dust over the years contribute to static crackle and would be consiquently minimised after each play!  please note This audio is clear and vibrant on all frequencies, I would class myself as highly critical! Please look at my completed listing of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!!!PLAYS LIKE A NEW VINYL TOP! TOP! AUDIO SO RARE LIKE THIS ON MONO!!!!!LOOKS  AND SOUNDS BARELY PLAYED EVER!!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! I have given my honest opinion when describing the audio quality of this album and those who know the listings and vinyls that i sell my prime interest is the audio quality!!! Please allow for the odd static crackle\tick not consistant  through out the audio! This is a genuine (not) reissue vinyl that is 4 years old and would have been played on a system that is 44 years old! I NEVER HEARD A THING!!!

BELEIVE ME! ONE OF THE BEST SOUNDING MONO COPIES THAT YOU WILL HEAR!!

The matrix

side 1. ''ARL-6711-4A''

side 2. ''ARL 6712-2A''

The mother Stampers

side 1. ''1'' ''H '' side 2. '' 1'' ''H '' (VERY VERY EARY_PLEASE NOTE K.T. TAX CODE IS STAMPED ON THE RUN OFF GROOVES???????''1'' TO ''1'' MOTHERS EARLIEST! VERY RARE)

The labels

These feature the unboxed decca logo (only 1st press)   Feature the familier decca  circular groove! This along the KT tax stamper on the run off grooves at 12 oclock to the matrix!,  If any tax codeing should have been used the k.t would have been in line with the correct date which also ceased in 1969 These labels are in superbe condition There is very (VERY) minimal spidering which can be seen angled in strong light. Little if  (no) spindle ware the hole is perfectly round (in my opinion this has barely ever been  played at all! (looks and sounds barely ever played in my opinion!!!! superbe audio) ''Made In England'' text is featured (UK pressing)!!!!!

The Record Sleeve

This is the original Red and White 'Decca' poly lined sleeve without splits or tares and is now always stored seperately from the vinyl!

The cover

This is the original  1st press/1st issue laminated front only cover laminated by Clairifoil made by Celanese Limited and printed by James Upton Ltd Birmingham England (only 1st press) There are (no) splits or tares there is amaizingly barely any real creases worth to mention just light whispy laminate creases only realy noticable if scrutinised , very very minimal indeed!  (very very rare to find like this) and also amaizingly (no) major storageware to mention  (see photos) There is a (very) small minor scuff at the bottom at the rear again, barely noticable unless scrutinised apart from this the rear is exceptionaly clean. This is strong and straight as it should be and an absolutely  superbe example!! original!SUPER GLOSSY! again any rubbing ware is only noticable if scrutinised angled to the light!!! VERY HARD TO FIND LIKE THIS ! must be at least excellent to excellent plus!
