JOHN MAYER: Radha Krishna (Columbia, SCX 6462, 1971, LP) July 1971 copy with flip-back sleeve.
Lovely LP following on from the Indo-Jazz Fusion idea, this time fusing Indian music, occasional jazz and Western elements, and narration (mystical and pornographic in turn) to come up with possibly the ultimate in whatever the genre might actually be. The story is sung by Susan Lees (contralto) and Austin Miskell (tenor), whist Nicolette Bernard narrates and says "breasts" quite a lot.
The sleeve notes state: "Radha Krishna is a musical dramatisation of this legendary love story, conceived for thirteen instruments - three woodwind, string trio and a combination of Indian and Western percussion and rhythm instruments. The burden of the story is carried by tenor voice, contralto and narrator."
The textured sleeve has a shop sticker stuck to the rear bottom flip-back, which may or may not be removeable - see the photos. Sleeve otherwise is VG with light creasing - again, see the photos. The record looks and sounds barely played. My guess is that the original buyer wasn't very keen and probably only played it a couple of times at most, and I have only played it twice - once to digitise it and once to grade it. There are a handful of random pops that a proper wash should sort out, and a few light tics about halfway through side 2, otherwise EX. A very nice copy.
* * * * Records generally have hairline marks from going in and out of sleeves - I do not mention these unless they cause audible noise. All records are play tested unless explicitly stated otherwise. Most of the records I am selling play at "Excellent" or "Very Good" as per Record Collector grading. Any specific defects are otherwise described in the listing. Please look at the photos carefully for condition of sleeves/labels.

* * * * Unless stated otherwise, all items are from my own collection. Most has been in storage for nearly 20 years. Lockdowns made me wonder why I have multiple copies of records that I will never listen to. There are about 8,000 more items to come from my rambling progressive, jazz fusion, folk, blues, 1950s stereo classical and easy listening, psychedelic, reggae, ambient, spoken word, comedy, railway, field recordings, electronic and occasionally just plain 'out there' collection.
