Description

A scarce and classic r&b and blues record, Ace and Thornton are magic together. “Big Mama” Thornton was a close friend of Johnny Ace and often hung out and toured with his band and the Beale Streeters. She was a witness to his untimely demise on Christmas Day 1954. EXC labels, VG shellac. Signed “Don Robey” founder of Peacock and Duke records, in the run-out. Robey was a major player in the R&B record business, and was known to use illegal and even strong arm tactics to get what he wanted. Sounds great. Includes original plain sleeve.
