This is an Original FIRST PRESSING of CLOSER by JOY DIVISION from 1980. Tragically this final piece of true art became Ian Curtis`s suicide note, and no individual track hammered that message home harder than the masterpiece 24 HOURS. This album was slated by music critics on its release as being impenetrable. Music critics need to learn that the more you put in the more you tend to get out. I will conceed that this is somewhat more difficult to grasp than the instantly accesible old classic "We buy any car.com". However, challenging music has been a love of mine since my late teens and this album right here is a true MASTERPIECE in every sense of the word. Challenging art needs to be worked upon and studied.Just because it is`nt skipping though the sunshine and soft grass where they all live happy ever after. Is precisely what makes difficult art so interesting. That is also why it touches people`s blood, bones and soul .
IT IS BECAUSE THIS MUSIC MEANS SOMETHING !!!
And the biggest compliment any of us can pay to the memory of Ian Curtis and to his family, is to never forget this. THIS MUSIC REMINDS YOU THAT YOU ARE ALIVE, AND THAT YOU ARE REAL !!!!!
The sleeve : Beautiful throughout. STUNNINGLY white all over the front and back panels are spotless. Double click the pictures and look at that spine IMPECCABLE as you can see all the spinal writings are undamaged and the spine has maintained its square shape, lovely. The sleeve is graded as NEAR MINT.
The inner sleeve has the highly desired rounded corners identifying this to be the proper earliest inner sleeve the ones that came later were square. Beautifully white no writing anywhere. The inner sleeve is graded as MINT MINUS.
The vinyl. This big thick slab of heavy wax is as black as a bucket of Tar but when you hold it up to a bright light it changes to translucent red. (I`m not that good a photographer to capture this). This is the usual way to distinquish a FIRST PRESSING. The vinyl has a very high luster sheen just like a new record indicating a lack of use or at least very careful use. It does have the very lightest hairlines to both sides but you have to search in a bright light to see them and they cause ZERO interference to the listeners enjoyment it plays SUPERBLY, ALL THE WAY. A really powerful and enjoyable listen. The labels are problem free and EXCELLENT PLUS. The vinyl is graded as EXCELLENT PLUS.
