Description
Artist: Julian’s Treatment
Title: “A Time Before This”
Label: DECCA ~ # DL 75224. Stereo pressing. Label is black with silver text. Stock label issued as a promo, with “sample copy” sticker affixed to reverse of jacket and radio station call letters WLPL and date 8/70 hand written there and on one side of the label as well.
Year: 1970
Condition:
Vinyl: NM-, a beauty! The playing surface is immaculate, with a high luster, played a small number of times and handled with care. No evidence of having been on a turntable except for one light spindle trail mark on each side. Plays beautifully with superb fidelity. Labels are clean. A gorgeous disc you will never need to upgrade.
Jacket: Jacket is nice VG+ with nice bright artwork. There is some light shelf wear noticeable on spine and minor bumps at corners, but overall in very nice shape with clean inner panels and no evidence of moisture. Writing on reverse from the radio station (call letters, date, and presumably a DJ’s initials (see photo). Overall a very presentable jacket to accompany the superb disc.
I’ve never seen this one before in 35 years of collecting.

Review:
“Although the underdeveloped sci-fi/fantasy-based storyline makes this record collapse under its own weight, on purely musical terms it's a rather nifty art rock collectible. The strident female vocals give this a human quality many similarly ambitious art rock efforts lack, and the organ-based arrangements are more accessible to pop-oriented ears than many keyboard-based prog rock opuses are. A couple of the tunes -- the lovely ballad "Altarra, Princess of the Blue Women," and the propulsive "Fourth from the Sun" -- even carried some hit potential, as absurd as that might seem…”
