Description
Jack Rose Kensington Blues LP TS12001 Tequila Sunrise ltd. to 500 rare oop 180g 12" & has a John Fahey cover! Jack Rose Kensington Blues has the honor of being the first LP release on Philadelphia's extremely discerning Tequila Sunrise Records. This is the original pressing, limited to only 500 beautiful gloss black on matte black covered records. The record itself is a black-label 180 gram substantial piece of beautiful black vinyl.
The record has some melodic tracks that just cruise along, reminding one greatly of the songwriting and technical brilliance of Jack Rose's main influence, John Fahey. In fact "Sunflower River Blues" is a Fahey tune, with the melody played note-for-note, though with a tiny bit less stridency and some subtle dynamic shifts. There are also some more meditational raga tunes, which seem to effect the flow of time in unpredictable ways. These are longer and possess a majesty that has to be heard, with intense bits so dense they don't even seem possible for one man.
I once had the privilege of seeing Mr. Rose play live and I can assure you that in person it is even more unbelievable what sounds that man could evoke from a guitar or dobro. I'm glad to have seen him play some of these songs, shake his hand, and hear a few of his goofy stories. I miss him already.
EX vinyl has been played several times, sounds amazing and vibrant.
EX cover, well preserved by the original plastic sleeve, EX information sheet.
