Description
Jackie McLean - "Capuchin Swing" (Blue Note, BLP 4038, ca. 1960)
An early, but not original, issue of a very solid McLean title in VG+/VG+ condition. Per Cohen's guide to Blue Note originals, BLP 4038 was first issued with deep-grooved labels, the plastylite symbol in the deadwax, and in a laminated sleeve; our sleeve is unlaminated, lacks the "P", and has ridged labels. Otherwise, "West 63rd", "Inc" to labels, "RVG" stamp to deadwax, "43 West 61st New York 23" to sleeve, as the original. The outer sleeve is bright, very solid, and very clean; hint of darkening visible at the lower edge of the rear slick, small pen mark to the rear lower right corner, light wear at the corners, solid edges, clean and visible label edge. The inner sleeve is a "Liberty"-era replacement. The record is flat. The labels are clean and bright with some very faint spindle swipe visible at the holes and a touch of wax visible at the side 2 ridge. The sides are clean and bright with touches of light needle mark and a few hairlines, nothing else. The playback is very clean with occasional soft static poking through. VG+/VG+.
