Description

Probably the most important of all the JCP releases because it is James Taylor's first appearance of vinyl - about 4 or 5 years before he recorded with the Flying Machine and cut a rare single for Apple in 1969. This is also one of the earlier JCP releases (probably late 1964, the label disbanded upon Jimmy Capps' premature death in 1967).

Taylor faltered during his junior year at Milton, not feeling at ease in the high-pressured college prep environment despite having good scholastic performance. The Milton principal would later say, "James was more sensitive and less goal oriented than most students of his day." He returned home to North Carolina to finish out the semester at Chapel Hill High School. There he joined a band his brother Alex had formed called The Corsayers (later The Fabulous Corsairs), playing electric guitar; in 1964 they cut a single in Raleigh that featured James's song "Cha Cha Blues" on the B-side. Having lost touch with his former school friends in North Carolina, Taylor returned to Milton for his senior year.

I found several of these albums in the basement where James Taylor played. My girlfreind of 14 years grandmother used to let James Taylor and his bandmates practice in the basement in Chapel Hill. I found amps, organs, and all kinds of stuff down there. One of the bandmates was in Spain all of the time and he would come back during holidays and sometimes talk about what went on in the basement. He was on the organ. The funny thing is that the band mates said that James could not sing so they put him on an instrument.

This record is perfect with the cover in great condition. Extremely Rare Album!
