Description
An original 1st press of PEARL on the  UK CBS label from 1971. Matrix A1/B1 - very 1st cut. Please note genuine 1st copies exhibit a few credit errors. The obvious one which stands out is on CRY BABY which is creditted to 'Russel & Meade'...when it should in fact be 'Ragavoy-Berns'. They seem to have got it correct on the cover, but the 1st labels seem to carry this error. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original Shorewood Packaging cover with 'patents pending'.
Vinyl (Ex+) In superb condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light marks each side - nothing heavy or troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. Intros and inbetweens are pretty much silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Lovely full-bodied sound all the way through..totally unhindered. Interference is pretty much non-existent. All I could detect were a couple of crackles in a couple of isolated moment, and then just a couple of soft ticks in the la-la-la-la mid-section of 'Me & Bobby McGee'. But rest assured that this rendition will keep you coming back for more...Please note one of the labels has been signed.
Cover (Vg+) In very nice condition with a clean front and just a slight nick up in the top right corner. The rear fares well too with just some light handling. There's a bit of edge wear in places, but it's not warn through anywhere. There's all wear on the spine rendering most the text illegible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Ex-) Lightest ageing.  No splits or markings.
