Description

ARTIST : Jazz Scene By Norman Granz Bound Signed Ltd#1921/5000 78 RPM Set Of 6 Records With 30 B&W Photos featuring Charlie Parker, Lester Young and many of the other jazz greats of that era.


LABEL : Mercury


CONDITION : The records are shiny and 10 of the 12 sides are near flawless. There is a small scuff on one side and there is a small area of pressing dimples on the start of the side with Sophisticated Lady. These marks are factory defects, otherwise the side is clean. The binder is EX or better with some imbedded dust. The jacket looks much better and darker blue than what the image portrays. The inner pages are yellowed as they also were on other copies of this release I have seen. The B&W photos are intact and only a few have minor curling on one edge. The fold out artwork in the front is near perfect with only light yellowing. Thre is a reply card still attached to one photo with a paper clip.


COMMENTS : Rare Norman Granz signed 78 set from 1949 in very nice condition. This was a very expensive set to purchase when it was new 68 years ago. I believe the original retail price was close to $50 at that time. I dry brushed away some of the dust on the jacket.
