This auction is for 21 original records by Jeanette MacDonald recorded at Hollywood Recording Studio for her recording label (RCA) between 12/47 and 5/49. They are all unreleased versions. There are full takes, partial takes, false starts etc. On several of the discs you'll hear Jeanette talking to the producer or making other comments. The songs are: Springtide, A Perfect Day, I'll See You Again, Where There's Love, Vilia, If You Were Mine, Zigeuner, and Beau Soir. There are multiple takes of each song, some complete and some halted mid way for various reasons. There are 10 16" discs and 11 12" discs. Some discs have one cut while others have multiple cuts. These are the original records and, to the best of my knowledge, the only ones in existence. When hearing these you will notice variations of lyrics, arrangements, etc. on some tracks from the released versions. There are tracks that, my opinion, are better than the released versions! All of the records are in the original paper sleeves (the sleeves are in pretty rough shape due to age). The only reference to what is on each disc is whatever is written on the sleeves, The only descriptive markings on the discs themselves are numbers that are etched on the records centers. These discs alone weigh nearly 20 lbs. I obtained an estimate from UPS for ground shipping (within the USA) calculated at the highest rate based on weight and distance. That came in at about 85.00. I am open to sending these in just about any manner preferred by the high bidder. I just want them to arrive safely. I will ship to other countries as long as arrangements are made BEFORE the auction ends. As should be expected, there is the natural sound quality of the era on these records.
