Description

Very rare original French 10" pressing of Jef Gilson Septet "Avec Lloyd Miller" on Spirit Jazz 1/2. The record appears to be in new condition – unplayed and immaculate in every respect. The typically thin paper cover shows some age: rubbing along all seams, but no splits; light rubbing to the front and back; previous owner wrote "7:03" in small ink above the Side 2 track listing on the back. Most collectors will be unfamiliar with the record- and rightly so, as it may be the only issue from this small French company. The music consists of two recording sessions: Side 1 is a septet session from December, 1961 with, except for Lloyd Miller, an all-French group. Side 2 is an octet session from October, 1958 that includes Bobby Jaspar, Walter Davis Jr., Doug Watkins and Art Taylor.
