Description

Jeff Simmons  "Lucille Has Messed My Mind Up" promotional copy LP Straight STS 1057
Jeffrey Lael Simmons is an American rock musician, best known as a former member of Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention.
Simmons completed two solo albums for Straight in 1969. These were the soundtrack for the Roger Corman biker film Naked Angels and the album Lucille Has Messed My Mind Up. The recording engineer and de facto producer was Chris Huston, formerly with the British band The Undertakers. Also featured were guitarist Craig Tarwater of The Daily Flash and drummer Ron Woods from The Dynamics.
Lucille was recorded at Huston's Mystic Studios at Selma and Vine in Hollywood and finished at Whitney Studios in Burbank. Zappa contributed the title track and co-wrote another while also playing guitar. It was voted the best album on Straight by Mojo Magazine.
Simmons is one of only a handful of musicians to share songwriting credits with Zappa.  The collaboration "Wonderful Wino" appears on Lucille Has Messed My Mind Up. (Note, the record label on this disc does not confirm this.) (from Wikipedia).
He went 35 years before releasing his 3rd album in 2004.
This album has seen better days.  The photos of the disc look better than it really looks, as it is scuffed, though I have played random tracks, and since the music is loud, it basically drowns out the background noise.  I'd call it VG,
The cover is a bit beat up, check out the photos. It has significant splits seams top and bottom, and some writing on the rear cover and masking tape along the spine.  There is a promo sticker on the front.
It has a gatefold cover and the inside of the cover is actually in pretty good shape.
There is an original Straight inner sleeve.  Again, not great, with a tear and a split seam--but it is the original.
Needless to say, I bought it used (I take better care of my records)
I heard the title song on one of Warner Brothers double sampler LPs and liked it enough to pick it up, likely sometime in the 1970s.
It has been in a smoke free environment since then,
Very definitely check out the photos.
