Here’s a rare Japan issue of Jefferson Airplane’s “Surrealistic Pillow” album. This is a rare first pressing of the album from 1967, RCA Victor number SHP-5640. As you’ll notice in the pictures, the title of the band and the title of the album are reversed when compared to the US edition. Also, the back cover is completely unique, and the gatefold has Japanese writing and lyrics in English. The words “Living Stereo” appear on the label, which later Japanese pressings do not have. This copy grades VG+, due to light scuffing on the vinyl. The labels have spindle marks, which show more readily due to the flat black color. The cover has a seam split most of the way on the top, and there’s a couple of pen markings on the back cover. The original plastic Japanese innersleeve is included, but it is in ratty shape.
