Description

I am a 40+ year collector of LPs and 45s. All of the LPs and 45s I have listed on eBay are from my personal collection.

I have also been an audiophile for 40+ years (analog only). My system picks up the slightest surface noise on vinyl; i.e., ticks, pops, hiss, and sibilants due to groove wear. The standard I have used in adding a record to my collection has been how well it played. To me, this means quiet surfaces; i.e., no ticks, pops, crackle, or hiss in the music or the dead wax.

The outer covers of LPs have been stored in polyethylene sleeve protectors since I acquired them. I have also removed the record from opened LPs to prevent seam splits.

This LP is Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplan. It is the rare mono mix. This is the original issue from 1967, catalog #LPM 3766.

The mono mix is a slightly different mix than the stereo version of the LP and, in my opinion, has far more presence and punch to it than the stereo mix. The mono mix sounds like Jefferson Airplane is in your listening room.

The Top 40 hits from this LP are, or course, Somebody to Love and White Rabbit, and those are great songs.... but the real gems on this LP are two mostly unknown (with zero air play in psychedelic 1967) ballads by Marty Balin..... Today and Comin' Back To Me. Balin wrote both of these subdued ballads and his vocals have never been better. These are two gorgeous ballads. Balin's vocals on Comin' Back To Me, accompanied only by an acoustic guitar and a flute, are simply the finest he has ever laid down on vinyl. If you want this Jefferson Airplane LP in your collection, this mono pressing is the one to have. In my opinion, it is far superior to the stereo mix.

Labels: EX

The spindle hole shows spindle tracks around the spindle hole and wear to the spindle hole as can be seen in the photos. The labels show no signs of excessive handling.

Vinyl: EX+

The vinyl shows as-new high gloss. The vinyl is gorgeous. Side 1 has three light surface lines on it while Side 2 has a couple light lines and very light bag rash on the first track.  None of these are audible and the LP plays very close to mint with only a few very light ticks that can be heard in the dead wax. I have played this LP a few times and played it for this listing and there are no ticks, pops, or surface noise with the music. It sounds great.

Sleeve: VG

The sleeve has wear to all four sides of it, but no seam splits. Also, not the initials near the upper left corner on the reverse panel. See the photos.

I have stored the LP in a rice paper sleeve but the original RCA sleeve is in the jacket.

Payment, Shipping, and Returns:

Please do not remit payment until you receive an invoice. The buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. All boxes and other shipping materials are new. Each LP is carefully packaged in custom made LP mailing boxes with new cardboard stiffeners (the exact size of the mailing box) on the top and bottom of the LP so it is tight and secure within the mailer. The record is removed from the sleeve cover, except in the case of sealed LPs, to avoid seam splits in transit. Shipping costs include only the actual costs of shipping and the required shipping materials. Shipping services within the US are USPS Media Mail. The shipping cost for this LP within the US is $6.00.

Shipping costs vary widely outside the US. International shipping services are either USPS International or Federal Express International. For all locations outside the US please contact me for an exact shipping cost. The buyer is responsible for any customs or import duties. All shipping services include a signed-for receipt.

Your satisfaction is guaranteed. If you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason, you may return the record for a full refund of your purchase price. The record must be returned in the same condition, and in the same manner, in which it was shipped.
