Description

Original UK RCA red spot label stereo press LP.
Jefferson Airplane's first UK and second US LP, released in February 1967. The name "Surrealistic Pillow" was suggested by the album's "shadow producer," Jerry Garcia, when he mentioned that as a whole, the album sounded "as surrealistic as a pillow is soft." Although RCA would not acknowledge Garcia's considerable contributions to the album with a production credit, he is listed in the album's credits as "spiritual advisor." With the earliest 1K/1K matrices & 1-U/1-B mother stampers of the original 1967 issue!
The front laminated sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some light laminate storage wear, with a couple of small laminate creases and corner wear on the front cover, with some light storage rubbing and a small number on the rear cover. The spine is still intact and fully readable, the company inner is intact & in EX condition.   The record is in visually EX condition, with a few faint sleeve removal hairlines and one or two light needle scuffs visible under bright light on each side. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of a few spindle markings.   The sound reproduction is EX, still clear & precise throughout with definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some brief background noise during the run in grooves and in a couple of the quieter passages, overall, a really great, loud & clear listen.   The matrix nos. are; T2PY-9332-1K mother stamper 1-U, T2PY-9336-1K mother stamper 1-B. This is one of the earliest 1st pressings of the original 1967 UK stereo 1st issue of this album!
