Most people listening to the radio in 1986 will readily acknowledge their amazement when they heard "First We Take Manhattan" (the first cut from this album) for the first time, and how impressive Stevie Ray Vaughan's lead guitar sounded. As is the case with most influential albums in any genre, 'Famous Blue Raincoat' set a certain level, a bar if you will, to be reached. Beautifully engineered and produced, add to this the expert mastering by Bernie Grundman, and Leonard Cohen's poetry, and what you have is a work of sheer beauty.
Since its original release on vinyl in 1986, there have been countless re-releases on CD, Cassette, and vinyl record. It is very well known that the very first Canadian pressings (LAT 1227) of this album are among the most, if not THE most, highly regarded. The record offered in this listing is one such copy. What's more, it is still in brand-new, sealed condition from 1986....something that is now becoming harder and harder to find.
