Description
Up for auction I have a monster rarity LP, Jerry Rayson-The Weird Thing In Town or Let’s Go Man Rocbuafro on Worlds Psychedelic Records LP 523. Late 60’s/early 70’s (?) pressing from New York City. POP-Psych, 60’s art punk-damage-drug-madman, classic-acid.
This is an extremely rare record and rare psychedelic label. A true find that NEVER comes around.
Songs featured are:
MY NEW YORK WOMAN/OYE BOOGALOO NENEEL BACELON DE LO JUNKIE/YO SOY DE MI PATRIA/ROCBUAFRO WITH LSD/MAYBELLE/ESPACO WITH SPACE/DO THE BOOGALOO/MAMA LIM PAPA LIMBO/MOYCA DANCE ROCBUAFRO
Visually vinyl looks lightly scuffed and has a few small amounts of scratches. Still has a nice shine, sheen and most of its gloss left. Center label is silver and black. Has great color and looks in NEAR MINT condition. Center hole is sharp and looks near new. Visually vinyl looks VERY GOOD to VERY GOOD+. Matrix no’s LP-523-A, LP-523-B.
Play graded vinyl. There are ticks and a few pops at the start of side one which decreases as the record is played. It actually sounds pop and tick freeby the middle of the second song. Side two is basically the same as side one. Slight pops and ticks at the very beginning and then it disappears and reduces. Play graded vinyl is VERY GOOD to VERY GOOD+.
Cover is in quite amazing condition. Bright fluorescent orange/red front cover which is slightly dirty around the border. No real ring wear or it’s hidden due to the vibrant amazing graphics. Great “psychedelic” cover art and writings. Spine and seams are just slightly worn yet still tight, sharp cornered and damage free. Cover is visually graded VERY GOOD+ or better.
To quote from the cover, “My theory of music is to explore in the unknown vibrations of sounds, to create psychedelic ways of thinking which I make mostly with primitive sounds by adding them together…If you enjoy the weird and the new, this is for you”
Jerry Rayson
Jerry Rayson, an obscure late 60’s/early 70’s New York street poet and paintbrush artist. A latin hardcore David Peel type, only more obscure and into heroin.
Another quote..."Obscure and severely spaced out fringe folk psych with unusual inner-city vibe and Puerto Rican tangents."
