Description
This hugely successful "Rock Opera" was initially released on Lp in October 1970. Following the movie from 1973, a 2nd soundtrack Lp was released as well. But it has always been accepted that the best version (musically) is the 1970 release featuring Deep Purple vocalist, Ian Gillan as Jesus.
For the 50th anniversary of the 1970 UK release, UMG (Universal Music Group) has released an audiophile Half-Speed Mastered 2-Lp version on 180g vinyl and was pressed in Germany. This limited edition was mastered at Abbey Road by Miles Showell and Nick Davis. It features a replica card gatefold sleeve with 12-page booklet. Presented in its original (UK only) fold-out envelope sleeve with silver foiling, and 12" x 12" illustration print of the 16 'Envisionings of Christ' as per the original inner cover. Superb detailed audio from start to finish.
