JETHRO TULL "SUPERCHARGED: THE 1973 AMERICAN TOUR TMOQ/TAKRL MATRIX# 72015/2949 2 LP VINYL WITH PAPER INSERT
Hello Tull collectors and all collectors of TMOQ and TAKRL releases! After 32 years of collecting all things Jethro Tull, I am parting with various bits here and there: it is time to pass these items on to other fans....
Here we have a very rare, hard to find delight: This is the highly sought after "Supercharged" live concert from the LA Fourm July 20-22, 1973. Note: **this is not the same recording as TMOQ's "A Passion Play aka Live Forum 73" - different live recordings and different tracks**. I have collected live Tull for over 30 years and can tell you that this is a great show! If you were at the concert or saw any of the "Passion Play" tour, you can't live without this recording! Somehow, the folks at TMOQ agreed to let TAKRL re-release this with no drama, as the paper insert indicates.
The lps are in spectacular shape: bought at the time of release and played by an audiophile only a few times and with great care. I hesistate to give any 36 yr. old record a M- but this one deserves it: virtually no surface noise; absolutely no warps, skips, glitches: NOT EVEN A STRAY "CLICK"!! The lps have been kept in plastic-lined sleeves and that is why they sound so clean. The labels are also pristine with no writing or defects. The red & white paper insert (exclusive to this particular TAKRL release) has no tears or writing and has been pasted on the orange cardboard sleeve; the original owner did glue on two homemade typewritten labels for the spine (they say " jethro tull takrl 2949" and "supercharged" and they cover part of the paper insert and the cover (see photos). Other than that the cover is EX: no split seams, no corner bumps or dents, no writing, etc.
From the paper insert: (see photo below):
[One and Two]: A Passion Play <41:37> [Three]: Cross-Eyed Mary <3:41> The Bomb In The Dressing Room/ Aqualung <22:07> [Four] Thick As A Brick (the "middle bit") <16:20>/ Wind-Up <11:01>. This album orginally appeared on the Trade Mark Of Quality label and has be re-issued here with everyone's good graces/ Recorded in July 1973 at the Los Angeles Forum by P.R. Wiggley/ Edited and a hearty handclasp to and by Ted/ Thanks to Art Gnuvo/ Step into the viewing room.../ Mono/ TAKRL 2949
You will hardly ever come across this release again, let alone in this spectacular shape - don't pass up your chance to own a real piece of history! Another copy of this release, with noted surface noise, recently sold for over $400 on eBay so here is your chance to pick it up with better sound quality for a more affordable price!
I play rate all vinyl and am a conservative grader (some say down right picky). A purely visual inspection might be convenient for the seller but not necessarily for the buyer! I've been collecting vinyl for 30 years and know from experience that visually a record might look mint but may play with a lot of surface noise; some vinyl looks pretty bad but may sound terrific. So, playing all of the record- not just bits- is the way to go.
