1968

Tull's debut LP

Recorded during the summer of 1968 on a shoestring.

Apparently the recording of this album cost a few hundred pounds and funded by the father of manager Terry Ellis.

This Mono version was withdrawn within a week!!!! For that reason nearly impossible to find!!! The stereo version although collectable in its own right is much more common. Of course the Black/Orange "Eye" label is the most elusive of all. This album is absolutely the RAREST Jethro Tull collectable item of all!!!!!

This is the absolute FIRST PRESSING of this first MONO Tull album!!!

This album is very hard to get in any condition at all and much more rarer than "Stand Up".

Very rare vinyl especially in this condition of the first Jethro Tull MONO album. The heavy vinyl is in a remarkably EX condition with a beautiful deep glossy sheen. There are only a couple of faint hairlines to be seen.

I am pleased to inform that these are luckily not of a serious nature. A mark on "Dharma for one" causes no trouble at all.  The sound of this very heavy slab of vinyl is magnificent!!! There are NO jumps and NO skips , the album plays great throughout, a credit to these heavy early presses. I play my records on the very revealing Linn Sondek with B&W floorstanders and Rotel amplifier and it really comes up trumps!!! Some achievement for a 41 year old record. The winner of this auction will likely be very pleased.

The sleeve is EX and original!!! Some of these earliest mono recordings had been married up with the wrong stereo sleeve. This one is in lovely condition. Fully laminated and with minor corner rubs only.

An underlaminate crease near the righthand top corner. The top and bottom edges are unmarked. The inside gatefold is unmarked and NM. The back of the sleeve looks glorious as well with just one small crease near the righthand bottom corner and a couple of underlaminate bubbles (very, very small and hardly noticeable) near the spine.  The wide spine is absolutely beautiful and of course 100% legible!!!  No unwanted writing or marking.

Labels are the rough textured variety indicating the very first issue of this label. Unmarked, NO writing!!! Light spindle marks only.

All in all a very rare FIRST PRESS Tull first album which is getting increasingly hard to obtain in any shape or condition!!!
