Description

 Hello there bidders!

This is my new account that I have set up primarily for vinyl records.  I will be listing my fathers rather rare records other the next week so come and grab some rare wax!!

You can bid with absolute confidence as I describe with total honesty with as many pictures as possible.

I know what it is like to get an over graded record turning up 2 weeks late, but that is not the service you will receive here.  I am a true lover of vinyl and this passion will be transferred to the security of your records!!

So enough of that and on to the record in hand!

Jethro Tull

This Was

UK 1st Pressing

1968

ILP 985

Island

Mono

Here we have one of the best and rarest Jethro Tull records of all time, and certainly one of the hardest to find Pink Island labels!

Released in 1968, this is the true first press with the front and rear laminated gatefold sleeve with the large “Island Records Ltd., 155 - 157 Oxford Street, London, W1, England” text running across the rear.  The inside of the gatefold is unlaminated with flip over laminate running on to it.

The spine is the very 1st press wide spine with catalogue number on.

The 1st press pink Island mat labels with the large orange and black eye to the left are an exclusive only to the very 1st presses.

These Mono first presses are as rare as hen’s teeth and I imagine if you’re reading this, you already know what you’re bidding on, so on to the description!

Matrix Numbers

ILP+985+A & ILP+985+B

Sleeve Condition.

The very 1st press laminated gatefold outer sleeve is in lovely condition!  There are no rips, tear, writing, or stains to mention!  The wide spine is perfectly straight and all text is fully readable.  There is some very minimal shelf wear to the corners with all the edges nice and sharp! It’s a truly stunning 1st press sleeve and I don’t think you come across better!

Excellent++

Label Condition.

The 1st press UK Pink Island labels are in stunning condition.  There are no rips, rubbing, writing or stains to mention.  There is no centre hole damage at all.  Under a strong light, only one or two invisible spindle line can be seen! It’s clear to see that this record has not been overplayed!

Excellent +

Inner Condition.

The original 1st press “patent” inner sleeve with the blue text is in beautiful condition with only some mild discolouring to mention.  There are no rips, stains, writing or splits.

Excellent

Vinyl Visual Condition.

The record looks great! It has that “just pressed” look with no dulling, scratches or warping of any sort!  It still retains its factory shine and lustre.  To the naked eye it looks as new! Even under a strong halogen, just some random wispy hairlines can be seen with no fellable scratches at all!  It’s a really nice clean copy that won’t disappoint!

Excellent

Vinyl Audio Condition.

The record sounds really great!  There are no jumps, skips or nasty distortion at all! I heard only a 2 static clicks from start to finish, even at full volume!  It’s a crystal, sharp and bouncy sound throughout!  There was just a little static on the run ins and between tracks as is to be expected.  Serenade to a cuckoo sounded really amazing! This is how the Tull should be heard, and it doesn’t compare in the slightest to later represses or any other format. A True Rarity

Nr Mint

So there we have it.  A true rare 1st press Tull classic housed in a 1st print near perfect sleeve and inner.

As Rare As They Come!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Happy Bidding

Also check out my other Tull 1st presses that are coming off on Monday the 15th all in release order, starting with This Was up to Thick as a Brick!

IT'S TULL MONDAY!!

All my records will be sent first class, signed for and insured to their value!

I will package the records with extreme care, with hard stiffeners and the vinyl separate to the sleeve and inner, all housed in a Defenda lock tab record box envelope.

I try to be as honest as I can in my descriptions, taking as many pictures as possible, but if you don’t feel happy with your purchase, I offer no quibble full refunds as soon as the record is sent back.  I will not give partial refunds however, only full.  I think this is fair, Thanks!

Overseers, please get in touch for postage!

<--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

Over the next month I will be listing my Fathers record collection.  He was an avid collector who amassed a pretty huge collection that I will be offering all at 99p starts! I shall be listing No Emi Harvests, 1st press Beatles, Pink Islands and loads of other rarities!

They are mostly in near perfect condition with my dad putting most on tape in the 80’s, then once again onto CD in the 90’s, and since they have been sat unplayed and always in plastic covers! , so stay tuned if you’re interested in some good old rare wax!

A quick message for oversea bidders:

It seems that quite a few over sea bidders are not allowed to bid on my items for some reason.

If you get in touch with me I can add you to a list that will allow you to bid and also figure out postage prices etc

Thanks!
