Description
Lieutenant Jim Europe's 369th U.S. Infantry Hell Fighters Band plays "St. Louis Blues" -- I guess the tune was handy -- and "Russian Rag" on 10.5" Pathe 22087.
According to Lord, the probable personnel is: Frank De Braithe, Russell Smith, Pops Foster, Jake Porter (tp); Dope Andrews, Herb Flemming (tb); Pinkhead Parker (as); Noble Sissle (vln); Battle Axe Kenny (d) + others; Jim Europe (ldr,arr). Recorded in New York on or about March 3,1919.
This record is in E- condition and plays very well. Both sides are pressed slightly off center, but not enough to interfere with enjoyment of the music. A slight warp does not affect play. The "Russian Rag" label has a crease that is visible in the third photo. Please note that this record is vertically recorded and therefore requires special playback equipment.
