Grading
Mint = Flawless record. Not all records even come from the factory in this condition. I don't use this grade since even the most minor imperfection will cause it to be less than mint condition.
Near Mint = Basically what it sounds like. It should pretty much look like you just brought it home from the store brand new
EX and EX+ =These are grades that I sometimes use to avoid overgrading a record as NM. There will be no more than a few minor imperfections, nothing major, no heavy scratches or anything like that.
VG+ = Also, no heavy scratches or heavy wear, but there will be more wear and imperfections than on an EX or NM record. Presentable appearance but upon closer inspection, imperfections can be seen.
VG = average condition for many older records. Still presentable in appearance, but with some more obvious wear. May be an item that looks "not bad" or, "looks pretty good for it's age"
G+ and below = starting to show more serious wear and signs of use, probably not much collector interest in records of this grade unless they are more rare. Anything below this, I don't usually even sell anyway.
G = Probably still playable, though will probably have considerable noise, may skip or repeat; cover shows considerable wear
