Jimi Hendrix 1st Press OZ LP Axis Bold as love VG+ 68 International Polydor MONO

Jimi Hendrix Experience

Axis: Bold as love

Original 1st Press OZ LP released in 1968 on the Deep Groove International Polydor Records Label. Cat: SLPHM613003. Comes in full gloss gatefold sleeve. Although MONO is on top right corner of cover this is the stereo edition.

This batch of LP’s are from a very recently acquired collection of all original late 60’s early 70’s pressing LP’s. There are around 200 albums I hope to list over the coming weeks some fantastic titles amongst them most over 45 years old!! I have hand cleaned and listened to every album and graded conservatively (as per usual) to give the most accurate grading I can. I hope you enjoy browsing or bidding on the titles as much as I have listening to them all.

Jimi Hendrix's second album followed up his groundbreaking debut effort with a solid collection of great tunes and great interactive playing between himself, Noel Redding, Mitch Mitchell, and the recording studio itself. Wisely retaining manager Chas Chandler to produce the album and Eddie Kramer as engineer, Hendrix stretched further musically than the first album, but even more so as a songwriter. He was still quite capable of coming up with spacy rockers like "You Got Me Floating," "Up from the Skies," and "Little Miss Lover," radio-ready to follow on the commercial heels of "Foxey Lady" and "Purple Haze." But the beautiful, wistful ballads "Little Wing," "Castles Made of Sand," "One Rainy Wish," and the title track set closer show remarkable growth and depth as a tunesmith, harnessing Curtis Mayfield soul guitar to Dylanesque lyrical imagery and Fuzz Face hyperactivity to produce yet another side to his grand psychedelic musical vision. These are tempered with Jimi's most avant-garde tracks yet, "EXP" and the proto-fusion jazz blowout of "If 6 Was 9."

Tracks: EXP/ Up from the skies/ Spanish castle magic/ Wait until tomorrow/ Ain’t no telling/ Little wing/ If six was nine/ You got me floatin’/ Castles made of sand/ She’s so fine/ One rainy wish/ Little miss lover/ Bold as love.

Labels are lovely and clean with only a few light spindle marks. Record has some light scuff marks and very light scratches that cause some light crackles throughout and an occasional light pop mostly noticeable between tracks. Record plays nicely and is in VG+ condition. Full gloss gatefold cover has light scuffing on corners and a few tiny surface tears around edges and is in VG++ condition.
