Description

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced / Backtrack 10 - UK - 1970 - 12" vinyl LP
Track Records 2407 010

The UK version of Are You Experienced was first released in 1967 on Track Records, and included 'Red House', 'Can You See Me' & 'Remember', which were replaced on the US (Reprise) version by 'Purple Haze', 'Hey Joe' & 'The Wind Cries Mary'.
This is the UK budget re-issue, in cheapo packaging & priced at £1-00, which was about half-price in November 1970.

The Backtrack series started early 1970, with the first five or so having a fairly controversial cover image of a small Vietnamese child with a fat spliff.
Later Backtracks, including this one, have the same image reduced to the small circle top right front.

'Mono' on sleeve - the 'M' over '33' on the labels indicates mono, also - Backtrack 10 was also issued in stereo.
My ears, however, do not agree - as far as I can tell, all of side 1 is in stereo (though I'm not absolutely certain of 'Red House' & 'Can You See Me').
Side 2 is mostly stereo, too, though '3rd Stone From The Sun' & 'Remember' are nice clear mono-mix versions.
No fake stereo that I can detect, on either side.

See photos for tracklist / personnel.

Matrix nos:
side 1: 2407010 (handscratched) 612001 A//2v420  1 1  1 1 (stamped)
side 2: 2407010  B//2v420  1 1  1 (stamped)
These match the numbers given for Backtrack 10 Mono at the discogs online source.
However, the side 1 numbers also match the discogs numbers for Backtrack 10 Stereo side 1.
Looks like they all had the same side 1?

Discs - 'Excellent plus'
The disc looks great, nice glossy 130g vinyl with few very fine scuffs & hairlines.
Clean labels with some visible spindle-marking - see photos.
Plays like new, a beautiful crystal-clear sound.
Sleeve - 'Very Good plus'
The sleeve is unattractive but OK, no rips, splits, major creases, ink.
Ringwear & wear to the bottom edge & spine, which is illegible; top edge OK; some small spots of surface damage on the back.
There's a plain paper inner, which may be original - it's OK, no splits, no major rips or creases, no ink.
Will supply new poly-lined paper inner.

Condition Guide

I use the Record Collector's Magazine's Grading Guide - which is also the ebay standard - to describe the condition of records.

"MINT - M: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT - Ex: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD - VG: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD - G: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler."

Note - I don't use 'Mint' as a description - and I don't sell less-than-'Good'.
