Description
Jimi Hendrix Are You Experienced Original 1967 Mono A1/B1 Track 612001.
I think this is the original mono release and it has a good solid feeling 157g weight.
I am reducing the amount of stuff I own before moving house and I'm saying goodbye to my vinyl.
Crazy low starting price as usual. Being the Mono first pressing please check completed listings for other sales to get an idea of a realistic bid. Good luck.
Matrix numbers in runout grooves:
- Side 1: 612001 A1
- Side 2: 612001 B1 with A stamped out with a triangle.
Condition.
Please note that I am not a dealer. I try to describe the record using the same style as others so you get the best idea about condition.
Vinyl: Very Good +. The vinyl looks nice and clean and shiny with a couple of small marks of "something" on the surface which could be removed with cleaning. There are some surface scuffs or scratches which look a bit worrying but don't affect the playing. When I bought this second hand I thought it would sound bad but was very pleased that the marks made little difference. Mono pressings must be pretty robust compared with stereo and I find a vibrancy in the sound in this original early pressing. There are a few clicks or crackles but no doubt a collector would be able to improve that with a professional clean.
Sleeve: Very Good.
Inner sleeve: Good. This has a polythene inner and British Patent numbers 800513 & 973939. There is creasing which is pretty normal and one edge has worn through where it has rubbed against the vinyl.
Labels: Very Good. With typical spindle marks but nothing bad.
It looks like very often sellers exagerate the grade, but I try to underplay the grading or be as realistic as possible. Despite the way I describe the record please take a close look at the detailed pictures below to be sure your know the condition of the sleeve and labels.
Note on grading.
For grading I am using the guide at http://reviews.ebay.co.uk/VINYL-RECORD-GRADING-GUIDE?ugid=10000000001916909
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
Packaging: The record will be protected with papered bubble wrap, placed against a HARDBOARD stiffener (not cardboard) to prevent bending, then placed into a stiff corrugated cardboard mailer.
