History:

I have owned this album from new! I've only played it a few times (and only on quality stereo hi-fi equipment). I haven't played it at all since the late 70s. It has been carefully stored for decades in its own thick plastic outer sleeve along with the rest of my record collection.

Vinyl:

This is an original UK 1st pressing on the Track label, Side 1, 2408101 A//1 1 1 1 and Side 2, 2408101 B//1 1 1 1 stampers: Visually both sides look NEAR MINT and play AS NEW - MINT! There are a few light spindle marks on the labels but it hasn't been played often at all and not for ages (for decades)! The vinyl has a lovely deep black sheen, with NO significant surface marks. The sound is fantastic! Both sides play beautifully ALL the way through. There are NO scratches or pops or clicks, NO surface noise (other than a few seconds of static in the run-in grooves) and NO distortion from wear. Quiet passages are just that - quiet! And the loud stuff is full and powerful and clear. The sound is simply superb!

This 1st pressing is RARE in MINT AUDIO condition. To me, this is a final upgrade, as it looks and sounds like new and I cannot imagine listening to a better copy.

Labels:

The Track labels on both sides are in NEAR MINT clean condition with a some very light spindle marks on each (see photo).

Sleeve:

This is the original unlaminated matt finish E. J. Day gatefold sleeve. It is in truly NEAR MINT condition as there are no faults of any real significance to draw your attention to! There is very slight edge wear top and bottom, and the spine has 3 tiny little scuffs half way along but is otherwise in perfect undamaged condition with NO wear or dings or creases. There are NO corner dents, and there are NO signs of ring wear from the record inside. Both outside surfaces are lovely and smooth and clean and clear with NO creases. And the inside is MINT. I think this sleeve looks truly fantastic given that it is 41 years old!

Inner sleeve:

This is the original poly-lined inner sleeve in EXCELLENT condition for its age. It is crisp and clean, with some yellowing from age, especially where the glue is top and bottom. The seems are near perfect. 'MADE IN ENGLAND 1271' is printed bottom right indicating that it was made in December 1971, just a few months after the album was released in March (see photo).

Final verdict:

A genuinely superb 1st press and 1st sleeve RARE top copy.
