Description
This is a special edition of the legendary Hendrix album; legendary for the music - for the cover.
It is labelled a 'Limited Edition Box Set' so this must be one of the first albums ever described as such.
The discs are pristine, there is no evidence they have ever been played. There are no marks on the discs themselves, and none on the labels that would indicate that the discs have been dropped on the turntable spindle. Also the edges of the album sleeve are perfect so obviously the discs have not been withdrawn and replaced much, if ever. To justify the 'limited edition' title the package includes a 10 page booklet with photographs, track listings and comprehensive details of when, where and how all of Hendrix's albums and singles were recorded plus a four page history and appraisal of Hendrix written by Chris Welch, the renowned music journalist and author. This too is in pristine condition. The gatefold sleeve is in excellent condition and certainly doesn't look 46 years old the only blemish is on the extreme right just above the text 'Jimi Hendrix Experience Electric Ladyland'. This is shown in the third photograph. If we assume the 'Limited Edition Box Set' label is on the front cover then you open the sleeve from the left. Another seller says this earns the package the description of 'rare'. I'll leave you to make up your minds on that. At the bottom of the gate fold, when open, Polydor describe the package as a 'Delux Double'. While photographing the records I was puzzled by the fact that the A-side was backed by the D-side while the second record was B and C. I eventually figured it out - it was so you could use those automatic wotsits to listen to 4 sides in sequence only turning the discs over once. Philistines! Luckily you can be sure that this never happened to the discs on offer.
Happy for you to pick it up to save even more money.
