Jimi Hendrix Experience Are You Experienced FIRST PRESSING IN SHRINK TRI-COLOR LABEL

Cover--- Beautiful.  Usually, the first thing to go is the white band around three sides of the front cover.  They are all still snow white.   The mouth of the front cover has one tiny area of foxing, and the mouth at the back cover has some very slight yellowing where the shrink did not cover.  The back cover usually suffers the most ringwear and dirtwear.  Not this one.  Looking very closely, you will see some evidence of dirtwear, but when you move the shrink back and forth with your finger and thumb, the wear moves with it.  The shrinkwrap has done a remarkable job protecting its cargo.

The top and bottom seams have just the slightest evidence of shelfwear, but nothing that threatens the integrity of the seams.  The front cover has a ripple in the slick, from having been applied improperly at the pressing plant.  See photo.

Shrink--- The shrink has a few breaches, and there is one very small area at the top and bottom in which the previous owner used a little Scotch tape to hold it in place.  Breaches occur in three of the four corners, and there is slight damage to each.  The back cover has some torn shrink at the bottom, not more than an inch.  Front cover shrink, indeed, has two medium-sized factory breathe holes, rather than the later pinholes, making this shrinkwrap original to 1967.

Inner Sleeve--- The original Reprise inner sleeve is present and in very good condition, however, the bottom seam has a split about one inch in the center.  The sleeve has yellowed a little from the last five-plus decades.  The date, “Aug 11, 1967” is stamped in blue ink on both sides of the sleeve.  If you own a magnifying glass that has a light, you can clearly see that the ink has settled into the paper, and has appropriately weathered along with the sleeve.  This is definitely NOT a recently applied stamp.

Your Hendrix LP will ship in a generic white paper inner sleeve in order to protect the original Reprise sleeve from further damage.

Vinyl--- Solid VG.  That doesn’t mean solid VB.  The vinyl retains a good 85% original shine.  However, there are many light needle marks to both sides, as well as some longer soft scuffs that you cannot feel with your finger.  Playback allows for some minor surface noise heard during playback, but is mainly confined to the silent grooves and passages, with an occasional tic or static during playback.  See photos. 

Plates are 1B, both sides.

A good VPI cleaning will help this LP, or better yet, you might have a Near Mint copy for this very nice cover.
