An original 1st MONO press of AXIS from Xmas 1967. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS FOR THE RECORD ONLY!!!! And would be of interest to someone looking to upgrade to a TOP LEVEL mono original. Or perhaps you are happy to build this title up slowly? Start with the most important aspect - a really well preserved mono LP player....
Matrix A1/B1. What is so impressive about this particular example is that it has not been played to death - like so many other copies. The surfaces of the LP still retain much of that original lustre you find on lightly underplayed records. MANY original Hendrix copies are going to have dulled considerably over this passage of time - or will be heavily marked. Finding a properly clean and carefully/lightly played copy is the tricky part of the exercise. We also have the original inner sleeve which is date coded to November 1967 [117] - a month before 1st release.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) Very nice shiny surfaces - better looking than most of the copies that usually tend to surface. Expect a couple of light marks per side - nothing feelable or likely to impinge on the audio from this heavy mono pressing. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with slight deviation in a couple of spots. A beautiful player - I don't think I've witnessed better on this title. They just usually don't tend surface like this - that's why. Very nice clean player by and large. Which means you can fully crank it. Don't expect perfect quiet background 100% of the time. Expect a few static crackles in a couple of brief moments per side. Nothing upfront. Nothing distracting. This copy is one you can totally enjoy - throughout. Many folks insist on the original mono 1st - and judging by the audio ...you can understand why. There's really not much to complain at all the way through. An ideal upgrade candidate. An ideal copy if you are prepared to wait and snag a decent cover at a later date.
Inner (Vg) Inner bag has detached. A bit aged. But no splits.
