Description
An original 1st press of EL on the UK Track label. Matrix A1/B1 + A1/B1. Note how the labels exhibit inverted tape numbers and mention sides "A/B/C/D"... and NOT side 1/2/3/4. These are the true 1st pressings on heavier chunky vinyl. There's a lot of voodoo talked about these blue-text covers. The very 1st design was with white text. These covers had very very small photos of Mitch and Noel in the interior. They weren't all that chuffed..and complained. At this point the printers attempt a re-working of the cover design. What you see - here - is the result. It's a somewhat botched effort. The photos have been increased in size - but in the attempted re-size the text at the foot is now blue, but with ghost text now appearing in places. Notice how below 'Voodoo Chile' - you can make out 'Watchtower' in ghost form immediately below. Consequently this design was aborted and is an interesting historical artefact from the time of release.
Vinyl (Vg+/Vg+/Vg/Vg+) Still in very nice condition despite having seen a moderate level of use. Do expect a good few lightish mark per side - nothing heavy or sinister... most is just surface level type stuff. Needless to say..if you're someone who needs pristine looking vinyl this copy isn't going to be for you. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly VERYGOOD+ level of playback with variation in places. Detailed as follows... Side A - Mostly VG+ with a touch of crackle in a couple of isolated moments. By and large very nice indeed. Side B - VG+.. in fact this side plays real sweet. Not all that much to find fault with at all. Side C - VG.. Plays nice for most part. There's a bit of background ticking in the final third. Nothing that invasive. Side D - VG+....this side plays real sweet too. Not all that much to find fault with at all. Overall an impressive player with, perhaps, the exception of that section on Side C. Four sides of, primarily, a cracking rendition with Hendrix Noel & Mitch in full effect...>>>
Cover (Vg/Vg+) An original blue-text print error and looking in very fine condition. The only slight let down here is the wear on the spine. Barring that it's in pretty decent nick as you can see from the pics. The wear on the spine is significant so do thoroughly examine the photos FIRST. It wears through, but it does NOT wear through to the interior image. Overall the cover retains verygood rigidity and remains an impressive original blue-text example.
JUST FYI....we're NOT taking offers on this item. This bad-boy is priced to go...
