Electric Jimi Hendrix Track 2856 002
Many theories around this the rarest of all Jimi Hendrix official releases.
It was a mail order only from Track records a good old rare label in itself and probably only around 1000 or so copies if that.
There is no way of confirming the actual no. It was pressed directly as a budget or sampler from Jimi´s Electric Ladyland double album. The actual original matrix pressings from 613008/9 are crossed through on one side and 2856 002 has been scratched on. The other side has the stamp 2856 002. It took me many years to find this one and when I did it wasn´t in great condition. The sleeve was badly disfigured and the vinyl in poor condition.
However to my surprise the vinyl which has light to medium scratches plays through far better than expected. It may have one or two skips but not as bad as I expected. Last year there was a sleeve only auctioned on ebay which was in Very Good / Ex condition.
The sleeve had been pinned to a shop wall so 4 small drawing pin holes can be seen under examination. The rear has a slight scratch on the sleeve. The spine is fully intact and readable. I was fortunate to get hold of a near mint copy in recent weeks and decided to let this one go.
A mint copy could fetch £600-£800 from record magazine sources. A copy of this album in any condition is very very rare.
I have set a reserve which in the rarity of this is enough to cover my outlay for the purchase of it. This is something for the Hendrix collector who needs it. They don´t come across this often. Good bidding and Good Luck !
