Up for auction is this original, excellent plus condition, 45rpm record, "Close To You" b/w "Hangin' Out With Earlybird" by Jimmy Armstrong and the Soul Stars on Stop Records #105 from Boston, Massachusetts. A reissue of Zells 45rpm #1008 . ~:~:~ Please read all information and ask any questions before bidding. Records are not play graded and I do not use the Goldmine grading system. More photos available upon request. Shipping for this item only is $4.50 to the USA only by USPS mail. LP discs come in paper inner sleeves, original if possible but usually plain white, and with the cover and disc in a plastic outer sleeve. 45rpms are sent in original company paper sleeve if possible but usually in a plain white paper sleeve. Records with paper picture sleeves are mailed with the disc in a separate paper sleeve with both in a plastic outer sleeve. Cardboard sleeve 45rpm EPs discs (and some 45rpm singles) are shipped in their cardboard sleeve and in a plastic outer sleeve but will ship disc outside the cover upon request. Picture discs are sent in plain plastic sleeves, original if possible. 78rpm discs are sent in original paper sleeve when possible but usually plain white or beige and in a plastic outer sleeve. ~:~:~ International buyers, special handling or for multiple wins in same auction, please request an invoice when you are finished bidding and then pay when you receive the invoice.
Shipping for 1 or 2 LPs or 1 78rpm to Europe and most countries is $28.50. Shipping for 1 or 2 45rpms is $18.50.

Jimmy Armstrong is one of those artists who cut a handful of fantastic 45s but never got the break which would have set up a career that his vocal abilities warranted. He started his career in New York recording for the formidable Zell Sanders. “I Want To Be Close To You” is an extraordinary track. Apparently accompanied by just an organ and an occasional base drum pedal Armstrong sings and hollers his heart out backed by a fine male chorus. The track sounds like an outtake of a gospel rehearsal.

Not in visible font anyway.
