Description

HonestDave is one of <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />East Anglia's biggest collectors and sellers of good quality vinyl from the best era in pop music 1955 - 1971. I use the respected Record Collector Magazine's Grading System (see the bottom of the page). 95% of my items will be in EXCELLENT condition with very few, usually extremely rare items no lower than VERY GOOD. My judgement is very strict.

All records will have been cleaned and inspected under a bright light before being played on a good quality sound system. Please note that vinyl that has been stored for years is likely to have some minor background noise for the first few plays until remaining ingrained dirt is removed by the needle. Wash bad cases in soap and fairly warm, but not hot, water and play whilst still wet!

DETAILS OF THE RECORD(s) OFFERED FOR SALE

Time for another of HonestDave' s "Soul Selections". The next dozen or so discs to be listed will be a mixture of reasonably common items, some harder to find classics and a few that will set your trousers on fire, with a price tag to match! Enjoy!.

Jimmy Cliff - Waterfall/Reward. Island WIP6039, 1968

Everyone remembers Jimmy Cliff's hit "Wonderful World, Beautiful People" but this one is a different kettle of fish, as they say. It is listed MINT at £30,00. Because the cover is not an Island company sleeve and because of the label remains (see below), I have reduced it to a very fair £19.90 as a starting price.

FRONT COVER OF EP/ALBUM: Not applicable; EXCELLENT; VERY GOOD; GOOD

REAR COVER OF EP/ALBUM: Not applicable; EXCELLENT; VERY GOOD; GOOD

VINYL: EXCELLENT; VERY GOOD; GOOD

45/EP SUPPLIED IN: Not applicable; ORIGINAL COMPANY SLEEVE/PICTURE SLEEVE; REPLICA COMPANY SLEEVE; PLAIN PAPER SLEEVE

ADDITIONAL NOTES:  The remains of a sticker have marked the A side label. The vinyl is unaffected. You should find the disc plays perfectly adequately with little, if any background noise; no pops, skips, or jumps.

All LP's and EP's come with original covers of course. 5% of the 45rpm records sold have white or black sleeves because either the company sleeve was never issued or is impossible to find. However, over 95% of my sales of 45's will have the correct company sleeve for the disc, either the original as supplied with the record at sale or secondly one obtained subsequently or thirdly, an exact replica made by Doug Price who also sells directly. His recommended website is www.bigboppa.co.uk/cgi-bin/store5/commerce.cgi. ===============================================================

ALL BUYERS PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING TERMS OF SALE - everything you need to know about dealing with HonestDave is here!

1)   Ebay is only a hobby and I am a very busy Travel Agent so I only post on MONDAYS. If you want the item on your doormat the next day please do not bid here - I cannot help you. I do not want poor feedback for slow delivery. You have been warned! I leave feedback when I can, usually at weekends, but it may take a while before you see it.

2)   Payment is required within 10 days of the auction end. If you require more time to bid on other items, or are going away on holiday, and cannot pay for a while then just let me know. I don't start silly disputes without trying to find an amicable solution first.

3)   Allow 10 days (15 for Europe and 30 days if you are further overseas) before asking where your item is. Our wonderful mail service has been known to send items marked Air Mail by ship!

4)   All my items are 100% fully guaranteed. If a mistake has been made and an item is not as described, or is in any way unsatisfactory, just send me an email and you will be contacted. In all cases where you are unhappy, but are prepared to leave a positive feedback you will be fully refunded.      PLEASE DO NOT RETURN ITEMS WITHOUT CONTACTING ME FIRST!

5)   Buyers who leave Neutral or Negative feedback without just cause and without talking to me first will be immediately blocked from all my further auctions and will NOT be refunded. Everyone loses at this game so it is not worth it!

6)   I have been selling on Ebay without major problems for over three years - and have positive feedback now standing at over 1660 (with repeat feedback over 2300 in total). Only 1 negative has been received, from a man who did not read the selling instructions and threw a hissy fit over nothing at all. Unlike him, if you can read plain English, you will see that you will be well looked after if you co-operate with me. I have been selling at record fairs and car boot sales for over 30 years and am well known for being very fair. I do not like upset customers and so I am very strict with my condition gradings.

7)   If you have a wants list you are welcome to send it by email to info@trainseurope.co.uk with as much detail as you can, plus the maximum amount you are prepared to pay. Add a telephone number so I can call you if I find the record at a fair.

8)   SIMPLE AND FAIR POSTAGE PRICES. I don't make a profit by ripping off customers with exorbitant postal costs. I do charge a fair price for safe and strong packaging (30p per complete singles order and 50p per complete albums order to cover the costs of buying the quality packaging). I have had to adjust the prices as the Post Office says I have charged too little for some and too much on others so some prices are up a few pence and some have gone down.

UK CUSTOMERS: you pay just £1.10 for up to three 45's, or £1.75 for 4 to 6 singles. Then £2.40 for one album and 60p for each one after that, inclusive of professional packaging.

EUROPEAN CUSTOMERS: you pay £1.80 for the first single, £2.10 for 2, £2.20 for 3, £2.45 for 4 and £2.70 for 5; albums start at £3.60 for the first one, then £4.80 for 2 and £5.80 for 3. These prices include the professional packaging.

CUSTOMERS IN THE REST OF THE WORLD: your prices are £2.40 for the first single, £2.65 for 2 and £3.30 for 3; albums start at £5.70 for 1, then £8.20 for 2 and £10.40 for 3. These prices include the professional packaging.

THE RECORD COLLECTOR QUALITY GRADES:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint. I will not use this grade unless I can personally prove it has never been played or is still sealed.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.   The majority of my sales are at this grade.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. I will very occasionally sell a record at this grade. It will be clearly marked as such.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc. I will very occasionally describe a record COVER as Good but only if I do not have a replacement. I DO NOT SELL VINYL AT THIS LOW A GRADE.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

FAIR, POOR or BAD:   THESE RECORDS HAVE ALREADY BEEN BINNED!
