Description

A Terrific record, Jimmy Raney/A in NM condition with RVG in dead wax and a Deep Groove pressing. 1st Pressing Review Copy. LP appears to be unplayed other than play grading and other than a few isolated, light, "tics" (like many Prestige issues even when new) plays beautifully with delightful music. The jacket is at least VG+ due to several small nicks across the top and small corner nicks.

The artists on session one are:

Jimmy Raney, Guitar; Hall Overton, Piano; Teddy Kotick, Bass and Art Madigan, Drums playing:

Double Image, Some Other Spring, On The Square and Minor.

For the second session add John Wilson, Trumpet and substitute Nick Stabulas for Art Madigan. They play:

Spring is Here, One More For The Mode, What's New, Tomorrow Fairly Cloudy, A Foggy Day, Cross Your Heart, Someone To Watch Over Me and You Don't Know What Love Is.

Please have a look at my other auctions and/or add me to your "Favorite Sellers".

The designation "Review Copy" generally assures that an LP is an early 1st pressing. Please take note: Most review copies (Blue Note and Prestige expecially) are designated as such by a RUBBER STAMP on either the jacket, the label or both. If you have an aversion to rubber stamps, please do not bid on these.

Over the next few months I will be selling selected gems from my personal collection. I have begun with some of the more modest offerings in order to build my feedback and have progressed to rarer items. While I may be new to Ebay I am NOT new to record collecting. All LP's offered by me have been owned (40+ years) since new - most have been played no more than 2 or 3 times. Note: All are guaranteed or your money back! So please bid with confidence.

All records are strictly graded according to GoldMine standards with one exception. I believe GoldMine has too large a gap between M- and VG+. I have added VG++ which, I believe, is MUCH better that VG+ but not quite M-. Play grading is done on a VPI HW-19 Mk-IV with SME-IV Tonearm and Shure V-15VxMR cartridge. All records are wet vacuum cleaned on a VPI HW-16.5 record cleaner using Record Research Labs Super Vinyl Wash and Disk Doctor brushes. I WILL NOT offer for sale any LPs with groove-damage distortion. I will not offer any graded below VG+.

SPECIAL NOTE RE: DEEP GROOVES. (Blue Note Only) Beginning with BLP-4061 very few first pressings were deep groove. Many second pressings were however. "Deep Groove" does not refer to the playing area but to a groove stamped in the label area. (Apologies to those who already know this - but I've had many questions).

All LP's will be packaged in sturdy cardboard mailers designed for the purpose and will include extra cardboards top and bottom. LP's are in new poly lined sleeves and original sleeves are included as well. LP remains in new sleeve but is packaged outside of the jacket. Both LP & jacket are encased in an outer poly sleeve. This is considered the safest way to avoid damage to LP and jacket.
