Coup d' Archet's 2011 celebration of the renowned Hungarian violinist Johanna Martzy begins with the first true analog reissue of her celebrated EMI recordings from 1954-55. Using advance head cutting to lacquer at Abbey Road Studios from the original tapes and pressed at Pallas in Germany, these LPs represent the best vinyl presentation yet of these landmark recordings.

The original over-long sides of the Bach Partita 2 and the Mendelssohn/Beethoven coupling have been split over two. At 14 minutes, the Chaconne has a side to itself, as do the Beethoven Romances, once jammed onto the end of side two of the original release.

Coup d'Archet has long had a Martzy fixation, and with this release has made these fabulous recordings live like never before. They now stand as monuments to both the sublime insight and playing of Martzy herself and the technical prowess of EMI's engineers in the mono world of the mid 1950s.

In homage to the original generic Columbia "tassel" design and colors, Coup subtly flexes its arty credentials with "op" stripes, while the photo jackets boast rare shots from the same sessions. Each title comes with an insert reproducing the original artwork and notes (at near true scale) with additional details of the recording sessions. Eight titles, 10 discs, all housed in a cloth bound foil blocked slipcase. A gift from Coup to you.

Shipping Methods & Rates

Domestic (Excluding Hawaii and Alaska): If the Standard shipping option is chosen during checkout your order will be sent out via USPS Media Mail with no tracking or insurance. Please be aware that you choose this option at your own risk! Orders placed using the Expedited shipping option will be sent out via FedEx with online tracking and insurance. Tracking numbers will be sent at the winning buyers request.

Canada: Standard shipping for Canada is FedEx. Charges for all shipping methods are based on actual weight. Orders from Alaska and Hawaii will be based on actual weight.

Overseas: For packages lighter than five pounds, Airmail will be least expensive. Otherwise, we recommend FedEx as it is faster and safer than Airmail, and we are able to track your package through FedEx. We will ship through the United States Postal Service at your request. Please understand that shipping overseas through USPS can take up to four weeks. Also, we cannot track orders through USPS, and in the event that an order is lost, we cannot start a claim for 75 days with an additional four weeks for processing.

We will ship according to your preference, but if you do not specify a shipping method, we will choose the method we feel is best as outlined in the above paragraph. Acoustic Sounds will not understate (lower value) the declared value of any international order. Doing so is unlawful. All orders will be sent at full value.
