Record: MINT MINUS: This vinyl is in outstanding condition, with beautiful gloss, as it looks new on both sides, but there's one very light "sleeve" mark from handling, NOT a scratch, on side 1, which DOES NOT sound. The light sleeve mark is barely noticeable. Needless to say, it's just one shade below NEAR MINT. Near Mint is my highest grade, as I don't use MINT for grading. I'm grading conservatively, so that you will NOT get disappointed at all. It play grades with superb fidelity, on both sides, with no tic, pop, or hiss noises. Yes, NEAR MINT / MINTY playback! The winner will be very happy with this gem!

Jacket / Cover: NEAR MINT: This glossy jacket has a nice clean front, as well as back, with no ringwear, shelving stains, writings, discolorations, scotch tape, reparing, or anything of that nature. Seams are strong, with no peeling, splitting, or tearing. Finding a better cover than this one, would perhaps have to still be sealed! This cover is just a MASTERPIECE -- Period!
This particular recording date, of 1957, speaks for itself, so there's no need for lots of already-known details. Coltrane had selected the BEST of the best for this highly sought-after Blue Note album.

Yes, it's a deep groove pressing. Records with deep groove labels are usually FIRST or EARLY PRESSINGS. During production, or pressing, those records had FIRST RUN, as they become favorites among well informed Record Collectors. Also, it is believed that they have superior (sound) fidelity, especially those pressed in Mono Format, unlike Stereo. Blue Note pressings are often complexed, as they can easily get you confused, especially when it comes to FEATURES. A great majority of records pressed with the Lexington Avenue addresses are often deep grooved, for such address was the primary Blue Note residence. Why is it worth so much? Well, there are a few reasons: 1) The condition of which, along with its cover. 2) The rarity of which, being listed on eBay in such condition. 3) It's a first pressing. 4) It holds a 5-Star rating by AMG. 5) The BEST of the best of the Bop era were selected for this recording date. 6) Coltrane was not officially signed with Blue Note, as it was a verbal agreement, with Alfred Lion, the co-owner of Blue Note, which led to this sought-after album. 7) Although it has a Book Value, the rarity and condition of which, exceed the Book Value, by many folds. 8) In 2007, it will reach a Golden Year, which is 50 years old.
