Description
John Coltrane - Coltrane's Sound
(Atlantic Records 587039 UK Mono LP 1966)
This is a UK Mono 1st pressing LP. This LP was originally released in the USA in 1964. It did not get a UK release until 1966. It has a heavyweight front laminated sleeve & comes with its original generic polythene lined company plain paper inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has textured red & maroon "Atlantic" labels. The record has 1st press 587039 A-1 and 587039 B-1 matrix numbers.
These recordings are from October 1960. Although released after Coltrane had left Atlantic Records for "Impulse Records", and without his approval in 1964. This LP is now a highly regarded LP by him. It is an excellent Hard Bop/ Modern Jazz LP. I have some other rare & collectable 1960's, early 1970's UK & USA Jazz LP's for sale too. This includes several other John Coltrane LP's. So please see my other listings.
Sleeve: There is a more moderate strip of clear tape staining along the entirety of the top edge. This is on the rear sleeve (see photo). The front sleeve is largely unaffected. There is mild or very mild fading to the "white" of the front sleeve. There is light or very mild fading to the rear sleeve. There is mild, very mild or more moderate rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is light, mild or very mild rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges on some areas. This is not too noticeable. There is mild to more moderate fading to the spine area. There is mild, very mild or more moderate rubbing wear on the spine face on some areas. There is some light, very mild or very minor finger-tip staining, or other staining, on the rear sleeve on some areas. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear on some areas. Overall, Good++ condition
Vinyl: There are two very mild hairline surface marks at the start of Side 2. These measure 3 cm and 1 cm in length. Otherwise, there are a few light, very mild or very minor sleeve rubs which can barely be seen under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on a few areas. These, again, can barely be seen under a strong light. Side 1 is in Excellent++ condition. Side 2 is in Very Good++ condition. Overall, Very Near Excellent condition. The labels are in Near Excellent condition & show very mild spindle wear only. There are a very minor areas of speckled white foxing (see photos). This is primarily on Side 1. The company inner sleeve is in Very Good condition. There is some mild , very mild or more moderate ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.
I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Near Excellent to Excellent overall & Excellent+ in some places. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in some quieter places. There are a couple of mild clicks toward the end of one track on Side 2. Overall, an Excellent audio copy!
