Description
John Coltrane LP Blue Train. Blue Note BLP 1577, Original 1958 pressing with 47 West 63rd, NYC labels on both sides. No INC or R on labels. Back cover does not have the Curtis Fuller defect visible on later pressings. Address on back says Blue Note Records [No INC] & New York 23. I am including the plain white sleeve I found it with which may or may not be original [see photos].
Cover: VG+. No seam splits. Some minor chipping in a couple of edge spots [see photos]. Some brown staining on back cover.
Vinyl: overall visually VG. Side 1 has a single line feelable scratch that starts about 6 minutes into track 1. There is a light to moderate tic for the remainder of the side. Otherwise Side 1 plays lovely VG++ to EX. Side two plays VG++ to EX fabulous. The record is perfectly flat. Both Deep Groove labels are very clean. P aka "Ear" on both sides.
Dead wax Side A; RVG BN-LP-1577-A... P 9 M. Side B; RVG PBN-LP-1577-B... 9 M.
I have uploaded a sound file of the entire album. The rip was made using a Audio-Technica microline stylus that rides low in the groove to minimize the tic on side one. The Mono switch was engaged. Please copy and paste this link;
